Live big, drive small
Source : Financial Chronical Published On : 2009-05-07 City : Kolkata

Kolkata Regent Sonarpur is offering Nano to the first 50 homebuyers; has already booked 300 cars for the residents the developer says that the Nano offer seems to be paying off

“DRIVE to your dream home in the small won- der car” — that’s how some developers have kicked off bookings for RDB Group’s Regent Sonarpur apartments in south Kolkata. And being a Tata Motors’ dealer has come in handy for Kolkatabased RDB to come up with such an offer.

“The crowd at RD Motors, an RDB Group company, suggested that there is a big demand for the Nano, particularly among the middle-income group. Our upcoming project, Regent Sonarpur, is also targeted at this income class. Therefore, we thought of coming up with this offer for our target group,” Ravi Pincha, executive director of RDB Industries, told FC Estate.

The RDB Group has promised that the first 50 homebuyers at Regent Sonarpur will get a free Nano. The group has booked 300 Nanos, the same as the total number of dwelling units (two- and three-bedroom flats) at Regent Sonarpur.

However, Pincha was quick to add that it was not just through freebies that the developer was trying to sell flats. “Our USP is that we are offering all amenities of a HIG (high-income group) apartment at the price of a MIG (middle income group) flat. And there is no dearth of demand or buyers in the middle segment,” he said.

The flats at Regent Sonarpur are being sold at Rs 1,755 per sq ft, which means that a 918 sq ft apartment would cost Rs 16.11 lakh, while a 1,430 sq ft apartment would come for Rs 25.09 lakh.

The Rs 115-crore project spread across 1.2 lakh sq ft is coming up in two phases. In the first phase, there will be 176 units, the possession of which will be handed over in December 2009. The remaining 124 units in the second phase will come up a year later. The Nano offer seems to be paying off, said Pincha.

“In the first two days of the project launch, we got several enquiries and 28 bookings from people who were keen on availing the Nano offer,” he said.

Regent Sonarpur, incidentally, is the first-of-its-kind township project in Sonarpur area. “The concept is to present a balance between urban living and natural tranquility. It has been designed keeping in mind optimum space utilization with futuristic living facilities and amenities,” said Pincha.

The township will have a state-of the-art gymnasium, community hall, landscaped garden, ample car parking space, games room, play area for children, hi-tech security system and a clock tower.
